Hello,

My iMac which I just recently bought about 6 months ago running OSX 10.6.6 is freezing intermediately for a few seconds, it freezinf the keyboard and mouse and the screen and works again, and it keeps repeating untill I restart and after a about a half hour it starts again.

Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac11,2
Processor Name: Intel Core i3
Processor Speed: 3.2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Processor Interconnect Speed: 5.86 GT/s
Boot ROM Version: IM112.0057.B00

Any idea as what I should check for?

Try these steps:

1. ntel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

2. Safe mode - Try this to see if this boot your Mac. This way you can determine if it is your account or the whole system.

3. Boot into Single-User Mode and run fsck. - Once the command line program gives whole all good, type: reboot.

Try these steps. If neither works, call apple or a local Mac repair shop.

Good Luck.

One more thing: Open /Applications/Utilities/System Profiler and check the Memory to see if any of the memory sticks have errors.

Boot up off your Startup DVD holding down the 'd' key (for diagnostics).

Run the tests and report the results to Apple.

I too had problems with SL and an iMac, as have my sons. I find it hard to believe when Apple told me SL dramatically cut their support calls. My experience suggests it has more kernel panics and freezes than Leopard ever had.
