Another router as a satellite?

Curious question:

I have my own Arris router (Far cheaper in the long run!).
Friend of mine passed away and I have (because I'm a scrounge :) ) his ATT router. (I use Comcast)
I am curious if I might be able to use this ATT router as a remote WiFi booster or just pitch it in the trash.

I had a spectrum modem which I found out I was renting and had already spent $400 on it. I was livid. Bought an Arris to replace it - cost me $180.

That was off topic - except to say that those elements are not locked like a phone. You should be able to login to the modem/access point - the default login/pass is usually written on the box. And there should be a reset button on it somewhere.

Once inside the control software, you can set it to correspond to your arris subnet and put it on bridge mode.

(second thought - will ATT come knocking on someone's door to get it back? - could happen)

Thanks, I'll have a go at it.
I doubt ATT give a damn, but we'll see. :)

Well, this is way over my pay grade!
I got in, but got totally lost in all the sub menus.
Not worth my increased aggravation!

My Arris is doing just fine without a remote booster.

ATT modem up for grabs or it's trash.
Model: BGW320-505

Guys if you have fiber you should look at this:

It has 10g port to run 10g switch to Mac Studio!

ATT router has been scavenged for salvage by my scrapper son.
Lots of aluminum in it and copper in the AC transformer.

as far as pay grades and aggravation go, I have found that perplexity increases the former and can decrease the latter. It is a simple setting somewhere in that maze of menus, just need to know the pathway to it. The thing is scrap now so no worries.

I thought the perplexity route would help when I tried (in my old age) to do what I used to do for fun 25 years ago, configuring a phpbb installation.
I used to make them for my colleagues back when I was teaching, had the whole school running scorm installations and stuff.

It might be the low expectation of young people using it these days or the lower threshold of patience, but - - - I give up. Too bad I can't get scrap value for the webspace.
