Any Photoshop 8 Wizards Out There?

I feel like such an idiot...

I've been a photographer and using Photoshop for a while now(all the way since 4), and I just can't figure out how to rotate a batch of photos 90º all at once. Anyone know how?

1) Copy all the pictures into one folder.

2) From the "Actions" palette, select "New Action."

3) Give it a name, then hit "Record."

4) Open a picture from the folder (remember the name).

5) Rotate it 90 degrees.

6) Save and close the picture.

7) Click the "Stop" button in the Actions palette

8) Re-copy the original file back into the folder, overwriting the rotated one.

9) Highlight the action in the Actions palette, hit play, select the folder and go!

I think options for source folder and destination folder are given at the time the Action is run, but if not, the procedure above should open each picture in the folder, rotate it, then save it back to the folder, overwriting the original.

Kind of tedious, I know, but Actions in PhotoShop save much time when used in the right place!

Thanks.

I had a whole bunch of pictures from a recent shoot and most of them were sideways- this really saved some time. I have to note, however, that I couln't get Photoshop 8 to rotate an entire folder. I just ran the script individualy, which was almost as good. Thanks for the advice- I will try to tweak it a little bit in the future.

Hmmm... ah, found it. To do it to an entire folder, select "File > Automate > Batch"... then, once selecting your action you created, it'll let you override open and save commands, effectively letting you define a source and destination folder (so you can re-use this action for images in different folders, and, save them to a different folder so you can keep the originals).

Sorry about that, could have saved you more time!

Why not use File>Automate> to create a Droplet based on an action that
would rotate and save back your files. No fuss, no muss...drag and drop as many as you need onto the droplet. Works great for more complicated effects as well...

This website is great-

Thanks for the help! This will speed up productivity with large shoots = more time, mo money.......
