Any users using .mac?

How many people here have a .mac subscription?
I bought one the other day and i'm pleased with it so far.
Anyone else use/like or dislike the .mac service? Any opinions much appreciated! :)

I have been using it since it was free. I enjoy it, and take advantage of all the features. Still waiting for Apple to give software and hardware price breaks on their products.

I've been using it without any complaints so far. There seems to be an issue with "power users" who look down on it for some reason.Whether it's snobbery or a technical arguement I'm not sure.

Why is this in the café? Lots of threads on this before. And rumors recently of a serious upgrade in .Mac come the second half of the year as well as greater integration with Tiger.

Sorry about that! I'm a n00b here still and am prone to make mistakes every now and then! ;)
I'll do a search for .mac to read through some old threads.
Thanks!

No worries. Thought it was a mod job as many have been moving every other item too the café lately. :)
It's not bad starting, or reviving, an older thread but you might get lots of info from previous threads.

I use .Mac. Have been since it was iTools. Paid my $50 discounted initial fee, then paid $100 a year later. Indispensable for having an access-anywhere storage, even if it is only 100MB (I use it to test web pages and transfer small files). My mac.com email address is my pride and joy, and am happy to say that I've kept it spam-free for years now by being careful whom I give it to. The free stuff is cool as well -- got a cool marble game, over 500MB of free sound loops, and free Virus protection (which I don't use, unfortunately).

Other places offer much cheaper stuff, but not with the tight Macintosh-integration that .mac uses. I don't mind the fee, and despite news sites reporting outages constantly, I've never experienced one. My iDisk always works, my email always works, and I think I'll be renewing once again in September.

I've been on it since it's original release as iTools. Wasn't excited about the move to a subscription based service, but it's not too bad for what you get. My only gripe is the TX speeds for the iDisk...still way to slow for my liking. PHP would be a nice thing on the homepages too...

BTW Chazam, this post is in the proper forum (the Cafe).

Actually it should be in Networking & Compatability, though one could make an argument that it belongs in the Apple News thread. It does not belong in the Café.

Me too. I thought it was a fidelity program but it is often used for other software companies to promote their software (i.e. Norton).

Not bad though, a bit expensive for what you finally get - specially those MBs at the iDisk.
