i'm a new owner of a
g4 15" osx 10.4.3

i know it's a sin to still have aol, but it's a long story. and now, becoming a bit of a tragedy -- the aol program is actually crashing my computer. crashing. no other program has had the power to shut down my Tiger till now.

i called tech support, yadda yadda. they haven't a clue to be honest. i completely uninstalled the software, and then reloaded it -- still crashing. deleted anything with the aol name on it -- found a "aol.com.plist" -- still crashed me when i tried to log in...

but it's worth mentioning, the aol software worked fine for about a month.
the only thing i can really say i added ot the computer is Konfabulator, which seems buggy... wondering if that could be a conflict? or is aol just a mess?

anyone have tips on how to get through this?

Try creating a new user account (temporarily), and see if the problems persist when logged in under that fresh, new account.

If things seem better under the new user account, this narrows down the problem to something specific to your user account (and probably more easily fixed).

What version of AOL are you using?

Earthlink dialup has always worked fine for me. Better than AOLHell.

I'd LIKE to get broadband, but it's not available here in the boonies, except via sattelite.

Get EasyFind and use that to search for anything AOL - America Online. It will find everything.

Trash everything you find and reinstall and see if it helps.

thanks to all. it seems to be working again. oy. i think it was actually a problem on their end -- something about my accounts. i did logon without my SN, and it worked. but then, thankfully, when i logged on again as myself -- it decided it didn't hate me.
there were some odd excess files out there -- may have helped ot remove those...
