Aperture "The installed graphics card does not meet the minimum req for Aperture"

I have installed aperture on an iMac G5 and this message popped up.

"The installed graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements for aperture"
here are the stats of my Graphics:

you can't. from apple's site on the requirements for aperture:
One of the following graphics cards:

* ATI Radeon X600 Pro or X600 XT
* ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition
* ATI Radeon X850 XT
* ATI Radeon X1600
* ATI Radeon X1900 XT
* ATI Radeon 9800 XT or 9800 Pro

* NVIDIA GeForce 6600 LE or 6600

yours is not there. its too old. and you can't change the video card on an imac. so you can't use the app until you get a new mac.
 
Well so this is the most expensive Mac App in the store
You have to get a New mac and an app and this G5 is only just about a year old.
This is the only annoying thing with apple they bring out a new thing as soon as you buy the product Like the iPod 2 Years Ago I got the 4GB iPod Mini and a year after that there was an iPod Video 60GB and Now a 80GB Video???? I cant keep up.

Also on apple uk it says:

Minimum system requirements

Power Mac G5 with 1.8GHz or faster PowerPC G5 processor; 17- or 20-inch iMac with 1.8GHz or faster PowerPC G5 or Intel Core Duo processor; MacBook Pro; or 15- or 17-inch PowerBook G4 with 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4 processor.
 
That is not the most expensive application in the store.
How do you make money considering your age to have all these Macs and pro applications?
 
And, Apple makes a special point to show the graphics card requirements, listed with the processor, etc.
If you are a pro-level photographer, where that software is targetted - then you should upgrade your hardware to support your business.
It's a business expense....

well, you have to meet all the requirements, not just the cpu. i just went to the uk site, and the same requirements are listed, video card list and all.
 
Where did you get that price from, Apple store UK is quoting Shake 4.1 for £329, the most expensive I could find were OSX Server (unlimited licence) and Final Cut Pro both £699.

A question to CJ though, why Aperture, reviews say it is poor and every professinal graphics company worth its salt uses Photoshop ?
 
oh yeah ... hmm.

i could have sworn shake was really expensive at one point, not so long ago. can anyone verify this or was i on crack at the time?

also, aperture improved a lot for 1.1, and as has been bandied around a lot on here, Aperture is a different beast to photoshop, in the same way that flash is different to after effects.

Aperture is more similar to adobes Lightroom app, which is also new, and is a direct rival.
 
Agreed, but if you are going to spend a couple of hundred pounds on a graphics package, would it not be better spent on one that you can use widely out in the workplace, bearing in mind CJs age and his hints that he would likke to go into the graphics field.

Plus photoshop does not require you to upgrade your recently purchased Mac. I could suggest another cynical attempt by Apple to shift more hardware.
