Applications not opening

My son has bought a second hand G4 iMac. Last night we installed Panther, and then his Adobe CS. When he clicks on the icon for, say, Photoshop it bounces a few times in the dock then goes. I wonder if it's a user problem. When we installed Panther we changed the Admin password, but when we installed CS it would only accept the previous user name and password. If this is the problem can someone explain how to overcome it. Or any other reason it doesn't run. Thanks.

Maybe this Apple article will explain better then what I can about changing the password.

Note : Look at the bottom paragraph.

Plus, open Applications->Utilities->Disk Utility then highlight you startup drive then choose "Repair Permissions". OS X is based on BSD (Unix) and Unix loves it permissions. Repairing Permissions about every two weeks will keep your Mac in shape.

256MB of memory not nearly enough. Buy as much as you can. Min 512MB

Mac OS 10.3 runs on 128 megs of ram. 256 would be more than sufficient to make the system usable. I ran 10.4 pre-release with 192 megs on an iMac G3 500 - they said minimum is 256. However, there is no such thing as too much ram. install as much as you possibly can. The iMac now has a gig, and works wonderfully.
