Impossible to burn DVD, it refuses to burn then ejects the DVD. (It's not the first time, the computer has already been fixed for a similar problem and it then didn't accept any DVD, even for playing).
For the moment he can read. I've tried only Verbatim DVD+R or DVD-R.
Through Toast Titanium 10.0 or not.

Error code 0x8002006E

or

Sense key = Medium Error
Sense Code = 0x0C
WRITE ERROR

Notice that with CDs, all is right, burning and reading. It seems then not to be a "mechanical" problem...

I'd like to know what does this code mean? How to fix?
Can you tell me what to do and propose some solution?

I had an issue with my MacBook Pro running 10.5.8 no being able to "calibrate the laser for the media." I also had issues using Toast Titanium. But, I was able to burn disc on my MacBook Pro running of an external hard drive. The issue was something with my internal build of 10.5.8. Try an achieve and reinstall, or rebuild complete new. That's fixed my issues.

Thank you, very much Scoops. At least, a beginning of response. I'll try ti reinstall once again (I've done it partially and it may have caused the problem, by the way, but if completely, it's worth trying anyway)

Not one reason but some...
I began to think there was nobody on that site, I mean seriously examining the questions, and I'm still thinking there's no MacIntosh personal except some automatic robot writer to repeat the same "excuse us but... etc..". : can't they just read an error code!!! and tell what's it about? or is it something the computer invented itself?!!!)

This is a public forum, with participants just like you. There isn't a paid staff sitting around, waiting for questions to be asked. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to get an answer, sometimes a few hours, sometimes days, and sometimes not at all.

Asking a question multiple times is not going to make someone know the answer, nor will it get a question answered more quickly (and if it does, it may simply be out of annoyance).

Just a heads-up! We're all volunteers here, sometimes we ask questions, sometimes we answer others' questions.

Thank for the information El Diablo.

Now, just think why I didn't get that information...

Maybe I'm not an english speaker...
Maybe I've edited the question many times because I've been told to... "the more informations the easier it gets", etc...
Maybe you don't name a site "We Have the Answer" when possibly you won't have...
but maybe many people have been used to the permanent lie that is called "publicity" and it's not a problem... it doesn't annoy you anymore.
It can be a high annoyance also when waiting for a response more than a week or so (when you're permanently told that your answer is being examinated) the only answer you get is someone telling you what you wrote...

I suggest that on that site that can be useful I hope. When you want to precise your question to get it easier for everyone, the precedent version should be easily deleted...

Now, to the point.

I've been trying another brend and it works. No reinstallation, just that.
Unfortunately where I live this brend is not easy to find but that's not a Mac problem.

Thanks to you, anyway

I just figured no one answered because the answer is very obvious (replace the drive), or how many times do long time members of this forum need to answer the same questions over and over because the new posters don't read the rules of posting and do a "forum search" first.

The answer is obvious !!! And you've been called a "tech"... My God!

I've just tried TDK instead of Verbatim (were they or fake?) who did work before... Compare the cost of your "replace the drive" with the solution...

Well, enough wasted time.

Too lazy or ignorant to do a forum search I see. Rather just post the same query multiple times to be annoying and bitch about the problem. The MBPs are pretty famous for failing superdrives. No magic fix or or anything special to do besides check to see that you have adequate free HD space because a nearly full HD will prohibit burning. To rule out software back up your data and format your drive and install a clean system then before restoring the data see if it will burn. The easy way around this is connect another bootable system to the machine via firewire and start the machine to that drive and see if it will burn. Tried all the above methods and still no go, replace superdrive.
