According to SFGate.com, Avie Tevanian is due to leave Apple at the end of March. MacRumors.com also mentions the story, as does MacWorld UK. Tevanian is "Apple Computer's Chief Technology Officer" and he worked on development of the Mach kernel, used as the basis for OS X. He also worked at NeXT.
His last day is said to be March 31st, according to Katie Cotton, Apple's Vice President of Worldwide Corporate Communications. Apparently, he plans to take time off and then pursue "other interests."
