backing up iPod touch is taking FOREVER

I'm trying to upload new 0S4 SW for an iPod touch. It automatically keeps trying to back up the iPod, but it looks like it could take over half a day. Are there any tricks to speed this along?
 
Nope, just wait it out. If you've never "backed up" before, and you have lots of content (music, apps), then it could take quite some time to perform a backup.
 
Sometimes if your iPod is connected via a USB hub the process can take longer. It is worth trying the synch with the iPod directly connected to one of your computers' USB ports. May or may not be the issue.
