batch mp3 converter

hi

i want to download an application that will batch convert mp3 files. i want the converter to convert the bitrate to 56kbit/s.

PS - is this the way to make the size of mp3's smaller for phones without loosing too much quality or is there a better way?

Howabout iTunes? Simply set your import preferences (in iTunes's Preferences, under Advanced > Importing -- select MP3 56k or whatever), add the files to the library, highlight them, and select "Covert Selection to MP3" from the Advanced menu.
