i have just installed a new hard drive and since i have done this, i keep getting a spinning beachball, which sometimes doesn't go off and i have to manually switch off the computer, and i know this cant be good for the hard drive. i am running tiger 10.4 on a powermac g4.

Hi Joel,

When you get the beachball... open Console, and post some entries of the logs when you see the ball. I expect to see some errors there.

Also check the jumper settings for the hard drives... depending on the model of G4 you have (there were over 10), you either need to use a master/slave jumper setting, or a cable select setting on the hard drives.

Did you install a new hard drive and take the old one out, or did you install a new hard drive alongside the existing one?

i had to harddrives in there. 1 for audio, and one for other files. i took the one out that was corrupted and left the other one.i set the jumpers on the new one to master(some guy in shop showed me)i have just reset safari to see if that is any help.
