Hey all,

I'm fairly new to mac's but i've always benchmarked my PC (and oc'd and all that fun :D)

Anywayz i just found this guide How to Benchmark your Mac over at TurnedOn and i was wondering if it was that simple ??

Like, they only listed 2 benchmarks, are there any other benchmarks available to use? I know with PC there's an endless assortment to choose from, so why aren't there more for mac's?

Mess

Because most Mac users are not concerned about RAW speed. Sure most people like more speed but some PC users are wacky about having the latest greatest PC for playing games that they can have. Those kind of people really need to find a mate and stop obsessing about the old nerd game of "mine is bigger than your's" game.

You linked to a website about GeekBench. GeekBench is a cross-platform benchmarking utility that is three-clicks simple--a double-click to launch and then a single click to run.

Benchmarking is OK, but it tells you very little about your productivity. Your productivity is determined largely by the slowest component of your system. For most computers, that is the one between the keyboard and chair.

There's also XBench, which is an oldie, but a goodie.

GeekBench is probably the most comprehensive benchmark available, but as you have noticed, "extreme" benchmarking is something that is relegated to the homebrew PC club.

If you're into graphics benchmarking, there are a few OpenCL command-line benchmarks available with a simple Google search.

Is there anything in particular you're looking to benchmark? Hard drive speed? Floating-point processing power? Graphics card?
