"best" DVD-R disc -- which one?

I am looking into buying a few DVD-R discs to backup myt data on my powerbook. I am using the apple superdrive. I have been to apple stores and they do sell DVD-Rs but can (stupid question following) - in trying to save a few bucks - is there a difference from buying apple branded DVD-R discs and buying DVD-R discs in a spindle of 15 (or however many they come in) from non-apple makers?

Also which one is the best for price/performance and any compatibility issues?

I heard that Fuji (FujiFilm?) makes some good disks, but I'm trusting all my data to Apple's own DVD-Rs. They're cheap enough, $2.00 a pop. Not bad.

I bought a spindle of 100 DVD-R PioData 4x media 100pk for $84. They work fine.
