Bluetooth, Battery, Airport and Timemachine menus are faded

What on earth can be wrong? It happened like from one boot to the other, and now theres nothing I can do. I tried rebooting several times. I tried activating the different menus from their control in System Preferences... all didnt do anything.

Im on a macbook and running 10.5.2

All help is very much appreciated!

Thomas it sounds like maybe something went wrong with your Account. I say this because it sounds as if your account is like a locked down standard account. So check out your account in System Preferences->Accounts.
 
I wondered about those padlocks but figured they might be part of a fully secured Airport config ( I haven't any wireless experience so I presumed that ).
 
Really weird: Just clicking into the account preferences did the trick. I didnt even adjust anything, but just opening the dialogue box, suddenly unlocked everything. Odd.
