Bluetooth?

I've looked for answers to this question but I've gotten nowhere. I have a MacBook, OS X 10.5.8 . . . LOVE. Anyway, my husband bought me an htc 4G phone for Mother's Day, quite a surprise. I would like to sync the contacts and address book from my Mac to my phone, but it appears that the program for syncing works only with Windows. :( So I thought I would do it through Bluetooth . . .but I can't seem to get them connected - paired, yes, but not connected. I don't know if I just can't do it or if I don't have the right information but what seems to be causing me the most problems right now is discovering what the Account name and Password are for my phone (I think that's what my Mac is asking me for!) I'm attaching, I hope, a screen shot of what it looks like.

My poor husband is feeling bad now because he got me what he thought would be a great present (I"ve been drooling over smart phones) but now it's just causing me stress!

TIA!

Your screen shot is showing a pane in the Network preference pane.
That will not get you anywhere, as it's for setting up a network connection - using your phone for that network connection. But, will NOT provide any means to sync your contacts/addresses. You will need a utility that can do that. When paired - open your iSync app on your Mac. See if that will allow you to sync contacts and addresses. Likely, it will not....
You will probably need a third-party utility, such as Missing Sync

Thanks for your quick response!

I've never used bluetooth before, and I assumed it was used for sharing things like contacts, calendars, etc.

All the research we have been doing today has lead us to either getting Missing Sync or using gmail for calendar and contacts, which I really don't want to do! Plus, we can get the information to go from gmail to iCal (and I use entourage, which means syncing entourage and iCal first) but not from iCal to gmail. What a mess. I'm tired of getting products that don't want to work with my Mac! My husband is feeling bad that he didn't get me an iPhone, but he wasn't thinking about all the incompatibility issues we've had!
