Hi, My problem is that when I restarted my system, It stops booting at the grey screen with the little (smiling) mac, but what is is funny when it stops there and nothing else works...

even tryed to startup with a pressed shift button, in cmd 'S' mode then I see a big list with lots of text ending with a prompt telling me to type BYE for booting with this system an 2 other options (something about open firmware)
none of the option works!

Does anybody know how to get my system running...

Thanks a lot...

1. What system are you using, what kind of computer: iMac, Cube, G4, ... , Mac OS version, etc. (I'm guessing it's an iMac with MacOS 10.1.5?)

2. Did you recently install any FirmWare updates?

3. Now this one is a biggie: did you insert a Sony-produced music CD and then try to reboot?

Sony added this stupid copy-protection band to CDs to prevent people ripping them to MP3s on their computers. As a side affect, it makes Macs crash if you try to play them

If you do have a CD in the drive, hold down the mouse button while the computer boots--that will eject the CD. Then if you still have problems, you can try to insert a Mac OS 9 CD and boot from that (holding down the "C" key while the computer boots).

could you explain a little further what exactly what this "lots of text" is? :)
And especially whats the prompt at the end about?
