Booting SD Card increase performance?

I know that the SD Card for the MacBook Pro can be used for emergency startup but can regularly booting up off the SD Card (8 GB, Leopard installed) increase speed of applications and battery life? Thanks for any advice.

It may, to some extent, depending on how fast the memory card is. I'm not convinced that an SD card could have read/write speeds that far exceed an internal SATA hard drive.

As for power, using the SD card may use less battery, but I'd be surprised if that mounted up to slightly over 10 minutes of extra battery over using the internal drive.

Why don't you give it a try and find out?
