Brand new switcher.. how to remove word alias?

I finally made the jump over to Mac this week and absolutely love it!

I'm wondering though, is there a way to not have the word alias attached to any new aliases? It's a small thing but it's kind of annoying.

Other than that finding everything I need and want has been a breeze!
 
Quick access to local website test folders.

It's not that I need many, but having fast access to these files from the dock is handy.
 
You can change the name of the alias to anything you like, or simply delete the 'alias' part. The alias remains an alias regardless of what you rename it, or where you might choose to move the alias. Makes it simple to setup a quick access folder for lots of uses.
 
If you drag an icon with, I think, Command and Ctrl held down, it will create an alias at the location you drop it and I'm fairly certain it'll lose the "alias" off the end.
