Built in camera for MacBook keeps coming on

Anyone know why the built in camera for the MacBook would randomly come on and stay on, even with a restart?
I haven't added any new software.

If I go to Skype and look at the video preferences I see a message saying that the camera is in use by another application. I don't know what application that would be. I check the accounts/startup-- there is no application that would use the camera. I don't have photobooth installed on this macbook.

Further ideas??

Boot to an external HD through firewire or put another machine in target disk mode and boot the macbook through the other machines HD and see if the issue is still there to rule out hardware.

Quit all the programs running right now. Then open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal and launch Terminal. At the first prompt the is shaped like a $ sign type: sudo killall VDCAssistant

Then put in your Administrator password and then see if the camera shuts off. Good Luck.

This is from terminal:

No matching processes were found
Macintosh-88:~ Bj$

The camera light was on when I used terminal and the camera light never went off.
