C51S.LIB problem

Hi,

On my macbook running Leopard, I'm trying to empty my Trash but it gives the message

"Emptying the Trash cannot be completed because "C51S.LIB" is locked. To empty everything in the Trash, including locked items, press the Option key while selecting Empty Trash."

I don't want to use the Option key, because I don't know what damage it may cause and I've been unable to find C51S.LIB messages about this on the net. Can somebody please help me out?

Thank you.

Holding the option key down while emptying the trash will not harm your system in any way -- it will simply empty the trash, including locked items.

Now, whether or not emptying the trash will harm your system depends on what files you've put into the trash. Where did that file come from, where was it originally, and why did you put it into the trash?

That's the odd thing: I can't find a C51S.LIB in the Trash, so I have no clue what it is talking about. So far I assumed the file was outside Trash locked by something I put in the Trash.

Emptying the trash will delete only the items in the trash. It will not delete any file anywhere on your system except the files that are located in the trash.

Be aware that you can potentially have multiple trashes -- if you have both an internal and external drive (USB, perhaps) and both drives have items located in the trash, those items will show up in the unified trash can.
