Can I change the Label colors?

Okay, I enjoy the fact that Mac OS X 10.3.x allows me to have folder colors, but I never, ever use them because the colors are too bright, too gaudy, too flippin' in-your-face, too don't-you-wish-they-had-someone-who-understood-subtlety-working-in-the-UI-group?

So, is there a way to customize those colors? ...and is there a way to do it easily?
 
You can use Colored Labels ($5) to tint icons (not their labels) in OS X much as you could do in Classic. The colors are fully customizable and you can add as many different colors to the color pallet as you like, in any degree of transparency.

Try Path Finder. I believe it allows you to change label colors... sorry, I'm not certain, because I'm not in OS X right now.
