Can you change your "Short name"?

It doesn't seem like you can change your "Short Name". Am I wrong about this?

one more thing on this, i once found a guy who wrote a script that did it all for you. I used it on my fathers Mac, with no problems at all.

All you do is read the instructions and i think you type in your old name and new name and the rest is done by magic! Far more simple than the manual approach.
