I enabled personal websharing and my local IP launches the default Apache page but I now want to set some other directory as an alias. Example, http://localhost/project1/, I understand that I will have to modify HTTPD.conf file to achieve a virtual host for this. But when I use spotlight I am unable to find this file.

Please advice.

thank you!

Spotlight doesn't find certain system-level files -- only documents and applications. Think of Spotlight as being able to search every place you can get to from the Finder without typing -- only clicking. That includes non-invisible, non-system folders on hard drives, users' folders and secondary partitions/drives. It won't find stuff buried in /var/db or /etc or any UNIX-style place.

That being said, httpd.conf is located in /etc/httpd/.
