Canon MP450 causing freeze on waking from sleep?

I recently added a Canon MP450 to my G4 Powermac and have experienced system freezes after waking from sleep when the printer is turned on. Computer wakes fine but after the printer has gone through its warmup "exercises" the system freezes and has to be rebooted. Force quit does not work. After rebooting everything works fine. I have repaired the permissions and updated the driver to the latest, neither of which made any difference. my specs are:

G4 Powermac, Sonnet 1.4GHz, ATI Radeon 9000 Pro, 640 Mb RAM, 20+Gb free HD space, Canon Pixma iP4200 (had for a while), Canon Pixma MP450 (recently added which triggered problem), 10.4.7

After reboot i found this in the system log:

Any ideas?

Got it working by plugging it in to one of the motherboard's USB ports. It didn't like my PCI card.

It might be an indication that the PC card ports are not giving enough juice for signal to the printer. You might want to take a look at that PC card.

I spoke to Canon support about the problem. They said they were aware of "some issues" with 10.4.7 and their printers and recommended me to keep an eye open for a driver update. That was four weeks ago - still waiting. Any other device works fine when connected to the PCI card, including my thumb drive which is usually a good indicator of low port power. Thanks for your suggestion just the same, Satcomer.

I have given the MP450 the boot. Went back to Epson for the multifunction unit (CX6500) and have had no issues whatsoever. Thus this thread can be closed. Thank you all.
