Can't find QuickTime files from fcp 2

Hello.

I recently recieved a NFR copy of final cut studios 2 and I'm having a problem.

First off, everytime I launch fcp it asks for the serial number. Not so much a problem but it's semi-annoying. If there's a way to cut that out I'd be greatful to find out.

Second, I can't find the quicktime files i've exported. It goes they the menus and shows a progress bar and even stops normally like it would when the file is finished. I've check everywhere I can think to check. When I try to export under the same file name a pop up says "file already exisits". So I try a differnt name and we repeat the process. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Rich Johannsen

You have to enter a valid, legitimate serial number. All copies of Final Cut Pro, be they NFR (Not For Resale), Educational or Commercial require a valid serial number. The serial number is included in the Final Cut Studio 2 box, and may also be printed on other materials (like the DVD sleeve, etc.).

If you did not receive a serial number when you purchased the software, then you will need to contact the seller of the software and inform them that the sale is incomplete until they provide the serial number. Final Cut Studio media (manuals, box, DVDs, etc.) cannot be sold separately from the serial number -- the serial number is an integral part of Final Cut Studio just as the installation DVDs and the software itself are.

...or are you saying that it's asking for the serial number, you're inputting the serial number, it's accepting the serial number, then you quit the program and on relaunch again asks you to enter the serial number? As if the serial number won't "stick?"

If so, it seems that applying a certain update to Final Cut Studio can cause this in certain situations. Here is one reported fix:

Much more information with a little Google search:

When you export a movie and the drop-down dialog box asks you to name the exported file, where is it pointing you to? You may need to click the disclosure triangle to the right of the filename text box to reveal the current directory it's exporting to.
