Can anyone please help me? I am brand new to OSx/OS9. My brother installed it for me yesterday, but left the printer for me to install. I have an Epson Photo 1270, and seemed to have installed it okay, but when I try to print it tells me printer not found. I went into add a printer, USB, and it does show the printer, but to the right it says unsupported. I originally did my printer installation from disk, but then I went to Epson's website and downloaded the new drivers for OSX, what am I doing wrong? I would appreciate any help I can get!

Thanks!

Place that Epson CD in, go through the install and hit the custom button to select uninstall.
Now install the downloaded driver by double clicking on the installer.

Once the print center opens after install, go to the menu and select configure printer.
that should correct things.

Cheryl,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it did not seem to correct the problem. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Donna

It doesn't look like Epson has updated the driver for the Photo 1270 since 2001. On Epson's own website it says "This file is for use with Macintosh OS X (v10.0 - 10.1) only."

Now you do have a choice to bring to life that printer! There is a file you can download call Gimp Print. It sets up fairly simply If You Follow the README. The 1270 is fully supported and the README and the GimpPrint download will walk you through how to set it up.

If you install Gimp Print PLEASE follow the instructions (they will ask you through the simple install ALL THE WAY). The only drawback is you have to have an administrator account to set it up. Good Luck.
