Can't share a printer: Panther to Classic?

I have a USB printer (Epson 777i) connected to my iMac TFT, which is connected to a router. I enabled AppleTalk, and Printer Sharing (in the Sharing control panel), but still I can't see the printer on my iBook (OS 9.2.2).

What gives?

I suppose your iMac has panther. I read about this problem in some other posts as well. Seems like the appletalk doesn't work properly between panther and os9.x
Anyway, here one shot: did you activate appletalk in the applications/utilities -> Directory Access? (panther option)

Wow that's messed up. Why can I check AppleTalk in Network preferences but have that NOT enable AppleTalk?! That's pretty dumb if you ask me.

I did what you suggested, but it still doesn't work; I can't see my printer, and I can't browse to my iBook.

No real biggie, I'm putting Panther on it as soon as I get some RAM anyway, but thanks for all the help =)

PS This may not have been clear earlier, but I HAVE always been able to browse, with the Chooser, TO my iMac's shared file resources, just not the printer, and not the other way around...
