can't software update

I have an G5 with OSX 10.5.8,when trying to install updates,Java,security 2011-002,
Safari and itunes,I get,none of checked updates could be installed. The installer
could not install some files in "/" . what does this mean? and what can I do?

Try opening Disk Utility and running a "Repair Permissions" on your hard drive. Then try the updates again.
