Can't turn off Bluetooth!

I can't turn off my Bluetooth, either through the menu bar or from Preferences. It shows that it is on but the check box and the menu item is grayed out. I have tried starting in Safe mode, created a new user and updated permissions and all that stuff but to no avail.

I've have come across some posts on the web about this but have yet to see a solution.

Any ideas.

My setup: Latest 17" MBP base spec, Mac OS X 10.6.2.

Try opening the application "Bluetooth File Exchange" and controlling the on/off status of Bluetooth there. Some people report after using that application to turn on/off bluetooth that they can now turn on/off bluetooth from the menubar.

Others report than an SMC reset seems to do the trick as well.

Cheers ElDiablo, have tried the FIle Exchange thing with no luck, will try the SMC reset and see how it goes from there.
