Ok my computer welcomed me yesterday with a message telling me my hard drive was almost full. The problem being I only have a macbook and I love my music a bit too much. So I thought, I rarely listen to music unless Im at home thats what my ipod is for right? So I thought the best solution was to transfer my itunes music folder over to my Lacie external hard drive. I moved the files over and then went into Itunes preferences- advandced and then changed the itunes music folder location to that of my itunes music folder on my external hard drive.

Now Itunes has a little exclamation mark alongside say 40% of my songs, when I click on one it comes up with this error message

'The song '...........' could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?'

Manually i can locate it but its a pain seen as I have about 40gb of music.

Can anyone please help me!

thanks Scott

In iTunes it is best practice to go into iTunes Preferences, the Advanced tab and point the iTunes Library to the new Location. PLUS after the physical move you must go to the iTunes menu option 'File' and in the droop down select Library and in the side out select 'Consolidate Library' on the new Library location.

See if this helps, Good Luck.
