CD/DVD burn

I am relearning much from not keeping up with the latest for years and have a question. I know my new iMac will burn DVD/CD's. What is the advantage or necessity to have a software program like Toast, if I can do it already with installed software? I would not be mass producing.

Thank you,
Glen

Toast provides capabilities above and beyond the basic burning capabilities included with OS X, such as DVD menu authoring, automatic compression of video to fit on different kinds of media, batch-creation of discs, etc.

Almost everything you can do in Toast can be replicated with either included or 3rd-party software, much of it free, but the convenience of having all the tools "under one hood" is worth a lot to some users.

The Toast package also comes with other applications for creating standards-compliant audio CDs, converting vinyl to digital, and processing video for use with the TiVo system among other things.
