cds will not mount

Hi,
I'm having a problem since the update to 10.2.4. When I insert a cd of any kind, it just does not mount (does not appear on the desktop, in the finder or in the Volumes Folder). I know the drive works fine because I can boot from a CD.
I tried repairing the permissions, but it did not change anything. I tried mounting manually, but I do not know what device (/dev/????) is used for the cd drive....
Frustrating....

Make sure you go to the Finder's Preference and make sure "Removable Media" is checked under "Show these items on the Desktop".

Yes it does, but it doesn't really matter. The disk does not show in the finder either...

I'm having the same issue, but this also applies to my iPod as well....even plugged in, I can't see it on the Finder. Is there a way to manually mount it??
