change hdd sleep timing setting

Hi,

now having switched to Leopard, I bought an external hard drive in order to use time machine. Unfortunately, every time the hard disk is touched (once per hour for the backup and still once per hour for a reason I do not know -- and every time I turn my mac on --), the hard disk stays spinning noisily for 15 minutes. I really would appreciate a hint that could change the hdd sleep timing settings. I would like to set it to 5 minutes or so. Is this possible in any way?

Yours,

Bernhard

System Preferences->Energy Saver and in this pane put a check mark in "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible". This should help because it helps when the two external I have on my G5.

Hello,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, there is no such option in Leopard running on my iMac.

And then, the hard disk goes to sleep after 15 minutes not touched. The problem is, that I'd like to set the delay down to 5 minutes or so.

Yours,

Bernhard
