Changing Fonts in Safari

In Safari, I clicked "Help", searched for fonts, and it told me I had to go to Safari->Preferences->Appearance in order to select a new font size. I did so. On this very page at macos.com. I changed the font to 48! And it made absolutely no difference

So, what's the correct way to change the font size in Safari?

And, for that matter, how do I reload a web page in Safari?

Control-tab to cycle through open tabs (Control-shift-tab to cycle backward).
Shift-command-left arrow to change to the next tab to the left. Shift-command-right arrow to go right.

Command-` (next to the 1 key) to cycle through open windows.
