I have tried everything, I disabled classic from starting in the system prefrences and made sure that no programs that need it will start. I even went so far as to delete a few programs that MIGHT need it, nothing works!! It always begins to load OS 9 everytime the desktop appears, and I have to quit it everytime (very frustrating). Thanks for checkin out this post and any help is greatly appreciated!!

Go to your hard drive>OS 9 System folder>Preferences and trash the Classic Preference file.
Empty the trash.

Now the next time you start up Classic should not start.

Some apps are design to work with both OS X natively and OS 9/Classic.
If you look at the info window (select the app in the finder and press cmd+I), you should see the "Open in the Classic Environment" option like the one shown in the window below.
Simply turn sure this option off on all the apps that open classic and it shouldn't happen anymore.
