Classic stops without asking to save

When I have Classic program files open that have changes that need to be saved, when I go to the menu bar and stop Classic, it stops without asking to save the changes. The screen goes black in places for a split second as Classic is quitting. I've seen it ask to save changes on other computers, but I can't get it to ask on mine...a PowerBook G4 1 Ghz or a G4 AGP Tower. I've tried various versions of OS X from 10.2 to 10.4.

What Classic app do you still need to use? If this happens on 2 different Macs, with a variety of different OS X versions, then seems like it should be the specific app that you are using. Maybe it's too old to recognize that it's running in Classic, and not actually booted to OS 9...
Do you get proper 'save' response if you are booted to OS 9, and not running Classic from OS X?

I suppose you quit each program that you use (when you should see the 'do you want to Save?' dialog), then quit Classic.

You could try rebuilding the OS 9 desktop file - which you can do from the Classic pref pane.

Yes, actual OS 9 has always asked to save changes when shutting down; it's just a problem with Classic. It doesn't matter which program, (such as Photoshop 6, Illustrator 9, Multi Ad Creator 4.0.5, etc.) just which computer.
