cleaning out a mac

I am looking to sell my macbook. I need to wipe it all clean of my info, but the cd drive does not work.

Got an external cd/dvd drive with USB or firewire? If so, reformat the Macbook HD with a Clean Install from that. Of course you'll need the correct install disks for your model of Macbook.

MisterMe is right - it would be more ethical to fix the Macbook with a new (or used/working) optical drive before selling it - unless you're doing the As Is thing.

Well - you can plug in a firewire cable, and boot to Target Boot mode (holding the letter T), plug the other end of that firewire cable to another Mac. Your MacBook drive will mount on the other Mac, and you can erase it or do whatever you need to do....
Bad Optical drive should cut more than $200 from the value, eh?
