I'm using a 1.42GHz macmini with a superdrive and MacOS 10.4.8. Up until yesterday, I periodically watch DVD movies on my computer. Yesterday I downloaded and installed Roxio Toast 8. I'm a previous owner of Toast 6. I burned a video DVD and ejected it. When I reinserted it, I got the message "the disk you inserted is not readable by this computer." Thinking I had a bad burn, I tried several purchased DVD movies, all with the same results, unreadable. Is there a problem with Toast 8 or is it just coincidence and there is another problem?
I used disk utilities to verify disk permissions, the problem persists.
With the unreadable disk inserted, no icon shows up on the desk top. But if I open Handbrake, it sees and reads the DVD.
All the DVDs that didn't work on the computer did work in the DVD player connected to my TV, including the one I just burned. Audio CDs do work on the computer.
