Computer's network name

Can anyone tell me how to set my mac's name on the network and set the workgroup?

under sharing, you can change the macs name *****.local, there is no workgroup as such..

You change the name in System Preferences->Sharing tab.

If you want to learn about work groups, contact your local administrator. Also open /Applications/Utilities/Directory Access and make sure thing are turn on according to the workgroup policies.

Umm, I was searching for this, and there is a way to change the workgroup...

Got to Application/utilities/Directory Access.app

Then under SMB/CIFS, there is an option to change the workgroup
