I have had the darndest time since I switched from PC to Mac, nothing goes easily. I have wpa files that I want to play on my new Mac. It is the osx10.6. I also need to transfer wps files from a flash drive to the Mac. What ever you have me do make it easy to understand as I would be one to flunk a

Do you mean ACT! database files? If so, find out whether ACT! can export to MBOX (for messages) or vCard for addresses/contacts.

OK. As has been established already, .wpa files word processing documents created using ACT!. I know of nothing that will translate them into a Mac-compatible word processor format. Documents with the .wps extension were created using Microsoft Works. Microsoft discontinued this format back in 2006. However, you may be able to open Works documents using NeoOffice. Oddly, OfficeOffice.org does not support Works format.

According to Mr. Large in this Apple Discussions thread, Office 2008 can open MS Works files. As for the ACT! files, perhaps you can open them in TextEdit and extract some of the text from them, though if it's possible you'll probably lose all the formatting.

This is somewhat misleading. Microsoft Works 95 file format is explicitly supported by the MacLinkPlus Deluxe file conversion utility. The current version of Works uses the Word .doc format. The problem arises for versions of Works after Works 95 and before Microsoft dropped the Works format in 2006.

All is not lost. The Zamzar file conversion website supports the Works .wps file format.
