Throwing ya a curve...J C Whitney, an auto parts supplier in Chicago, has sold small, battery powered, digital thermometers (in/outdoor switch) for about $10. I bought a bunch and gave them to my kids. I used mine in my truck until replaced the truck. Installed the sensor on my CPU heatsink, and ran the wire (about 10' long) around thru the snakes nest that's behind every computer. The read-out sits on top of my monitor. Does a fine job of telling me that everything is still all right. It's a lot more accurate than the temp. utility I used at the time. It also makes me think periodically about blowing out the dust bunnies from the Mac's innards.
