Create a text file from folder list?

Let's say I have a thousand songs in a folder and I want to make a text file listing them. I do NOT want to copy the songs themselves, just the titles. Anyone know a way?

Open a blank document in your TextEdit app.
Go to the Format menu, and click "Make Plain Text" (don't miss this step)

Now, open your folder (the one with a thousand songs)
Select all the songs (Command-A will do that)
Press Command-C (places file names on clipboard, which is a copy)
click in the TextEdit window, and press Command-V (to paste the names)
And - voila!
All your song titles in a list....
