I've just upgraded to 10.4.5 and finally got my mighty mouse software working (previously it had been disabled).

However i am still left with the annoying problem of the changed distribution of desktop icons.

They used to look like this

Now they look like this

Call me superficial, but I don't like it; I want my icons they way they were, not how Apple think I should have them.

Does anyone know a terminal hack to control the icon distribution? I'm sure it's really simple...

Go to your Desktop View Options, and turn off 'Snap to Grid', and also turn off 'Keep Arranged by'
Then you will be able to move your icons to any position that you like (except for the top right corner, which might interfere with your hard drives icon.

Thanks but that doesn't really do what i need. I need the icons to snap to the grid, but I need the grid to be tighter, as it was before.

I'm sure that there will be a way of adjusting this via the terminal.
