DirectoryServices process keeps quitting/restarting

I have a dual core Intel MacBook, and I have had this problem since I upgraded to Leopard. The system/any open applications "freezes" every few minutes- for instance, safari will not load any new pages though I am still connected to the internet, iTunes will not advance to the next song on the playlist, can't adjust brightness/volume using the keyboard, etc., though I can still access menus for the most part. I have verified my disk/repaired permissions, run MacJanitor and Preferential Treatment. This is what I see in Console pretty much constantly:

Can anyone give me any thoughts on what the problem might be? This is making a 5-minute task take as long as 20!

Did you do a fresh install of Leopard or did the "Upgrade" portion of the install?

If I were you I would first Clone that hard drive to an bootable external. Then I would take a Leopard install disk and run it again, but this time do an Archive and Install. This time though I would then immediately download the 10.5.5 Combo Update to take you straight to the latest OS X Leopard. This way you can use the cloned backup if a program doesn't like the update.

Lastly I would read PCWorld's article Get Leopard and Windows to Play Nice. You might like that article.
 
I ended up doing a complete reinstall from the cd- backing up my files was taking way too long. Thanks for you help anyways!
