disable all tooltips?

I can't find an answer to this in any forums or how to's. How does one globally disable tooltips in OS X? Some, but not all, applications give you the option to disable these UI irritations, but is there a system setting somewhere that I can set to permanently kill them in all apps? Tooltips are the most un-maclike feature ever created and I really want to make them go away.

Nope. No global preference. AFAIK, there are no tooltips in the Finder, so I don't see a need for a global preference. It would be by application.
