Disabling Stacks?

Just drag the folder icons out of the dock if there are any and don't put folders in the dock.

Thanks, but I want things to remain in the dock ... I just don't want the Stacks view when I left-click with my Mighty Mouse on the folder icon in the dock.

Yes, I know, I suppose I just shouldn't left-click on folders in the dock (it's like the old joke: "Doctor, it hurts when I move my arm this way." "Well, don't move your arm that way"). However, I'm used to left-clicking when opening folders in 10.4 and everywhere else except the dock in 10.5, and I don't want the behavior to be different in the dock under 10.5.

However, I guess I don't have the option to disable this left-click Stacks behavior in Leopard, correct?

My guess? No. Before Stacks, you could move through a folder's hierarchy when getting to its contextual menu in the Dock. Now you only see its flat content. Sadly, it seems you can't look at folders in the Dock the old way.

Oh well ... (sigh) ...

But I wouldn't be surprised if some day, someone comes out with a 3rd-party app to tweak this.

Thanks.
