Display problem

I have a G4 1.25 DP and a Formac 17in display. Every other resolution does not display properly. At 800x600 all the colors dont come in and it is very dark. At 800x600 stretched its ok. From there, every other resolution is bad then ok and so on.

I used the hardware test CD and it didnt find any problems. I dont know what to do. Help!

Well, don't select any of the offending resolutions. Sometimes incompatible resolutions show up in the Display Preferences. Monitors are limited in which resolutions they can dislplay as well as what refresh rates they can display them at. Sometimes OS X doesn't know this.

Is this a recent problem, or has it been this way forever? Or only with this certain monitor?
 
It is a recent problem. I opened Hoyle Casino and it automaticaly changes the resolution to 800x600. That's how I found the problem. I thought it was the app at first but found that it was the resolution. I used that app many times before and it worked fine.

You dont think it's the display or video card? Or maybe panther?
 
Hmm... it wouldn't hurt to shut down the CPU, open the case, reseat the video card and reconnect the monitor -- just to eliminate those as a cause of the problem.
 
Ya know that's a good idea. It reminds me that a windows cumputer here at work was displaying all in red tones recently. Nothing worked until she rebooted and the monitor displayed a connection error. When I messed around with the connection, it displayed correctly.

I'll try that when I get home.
