I have this extreme pain in my arm, which runs from the tendents in my left hand all the way through my arm to my elbow, and its such a sharp pain it hurts to make a fist with my left hand! I also had some back pain, and its all on the left side!! Has anyone ever gotten this? The pain keeps coming back, even after lots of medicine.

Carpal Tunnel has to do with the sheaths around the bones in your hands, not your whole arm as far as I know. Here's an article from www.webmd.com that goes into more detail:

Make sure your sitting position is ergonomic. This includes having your arms at 90 degrees to your table and keeping the line from your forearm to your wrists straight. Do you have a keyboard wrist pad? Do you sit at your desk turned sideways instead of straight ahead?

Let us know. :)

You should go see a doctor. It'll be safer and more authoritative than the advice you can get on an internet message board.

On average, I spend 6 or more hours per day (sometimes more) typing / using a computer. I have always stretched and flexed my hands (wrists, arms and back) at regular intervals.

You can find information about appropriate 'computer break stretches' on many websites.

I was doing many of these stretches before Carpal Tunnel was widely recognized and I've never had any problems with my wrists or hands.

(check with your doctor to prevent injury before just doing something you read about)
