I am thinking of putting a base dock on my mini with storage to clean up ancient stuff in my iCloud Drive. (also weed out the duplicates and organize the documents and pictures and all the rotzoi that is hanging around in there. it has been accumulating through the years with multiple levels of document folders and old iTunes catalogs)
I am looking at the Satechi, the UGreen and the Macally. What I see is ...
with all of them I will wind up plugging more than I want to in the front.
Satechi - sleek slim uses one port for everything in the dock (so disk speed might not be what I want)
UGreen - kinda bulky, uses two ports in the host - one dedicated to ssd, the other shared. The power button solution rather crude
Macally - slimmest and most Mac-like- including in price, videos I saw made it look like the mini wasn't so well seated
I'm looking for advice - any experience with any of these or others.
Use case:
mostly office work - some scanning, printing (wireless) - I access a pc remotely through a tail-net run two 1440 p monitors. do some design, website maintenance and creative projects, archival accounting stuff - some video editing (nothing to intense) I have to get about 100 gig out of iCloud so I can start again. Looking at a 2 tb NVMe - nothing too fancy though they will all take up to 8tb. -I like the clean look on my desk and don't want wires all over the place.
